A Mother's Universe

"A Mother's Universe" — in this painting I portrayed the boundless motherly love for one's child. She protects her little one from all that is bad, giving it health and beauty to drink. The young mother is dressed in an incredibly beautiful, airy, and delicate fabric — a Volhynian serpanok. Serpanok garments are remarkably light and not overloaded with ornamentation. In the background I painted a rushnyk with an embroidered tree of life, which is undoubtedly the central symbol, filled with exceptionally deep meaning. From birth to death, the rushnyk accompanied the entire life of a Ukrainian.
